Can you hear the voice of God?
  • Acts 13:14, 43-52 | | |
  • Psalm 100:1-3, 5
  • Revelation 7:9, 14-17
  • John 10:27-3

I cannot say I have heard the voice of the Lord. I have never heard a voice. But I have felt the Lord speak to me in my heart. As with any other relationship in our lives, our relationship with the Lord is two-way. While we speak to the Lord, he can also commu- nicate with us. Today’s Psalm tells us “Know that the Lord is God; he made us, his we are; his people, the flock he tends” (v. 3). He wants to communicate with us. He wants to hear our thoughts and also wants us to listen to him.

We can do this through prayer. When we sit in the presence of the Lord, he will allow us to hear his voice in our hearts and minds. He will tell us what we need to hear for that day or for a specific situation. In the Gospel reading, Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (v. 27). When prayer becomes a practice in our lives, we will know the voice of the Lord and hear him talk to us on a regular basis. Today, the Lord is calling us to prayer, to talk to him and hear his voice.

PRAYER: Abba Father, I pray for the gi of perseverance in prayer. May I hear your voice every day. Amen.
