In today’s first reading St. Paul warns against greed and the dangers of pursuing wealth, teaching that godliness with contentment is great gain. We bring nothing into the world and take nothing out. We need to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and gentleness. St. Paul’s words remind us that true riches are found in a life devoted to God, not in accumulating earthly possessions. The Gospel reading provides a glimpse into Jesus’ ministry. A group of women followed him and provided for his needs out of their resources. These women, transformed by Jesus’ healing and teaching, demonstrated a profound devotion and willingness to serve. Their example challenges us to use our resources—whether time, energy, or finances—for God’s purposes and to further his kingdom. By turning away from the distractions of materialism, we can focus on building a life centered on faith and love. Serving God with humility and generosity leads to eternal joy.
PRAYER: Abba Father, help us seek contentment and serve you with devoted hearts. Amen.
