Discipleship Journey
  • Daniel 5:1-6,13-14,16-17,23-28
  • Daniel 3:62-67
  • Luke 21:12-19
There are four stages of discipleship that can be observed:
  1. Catalyst – a miracle or transformative experience that initiates the journey.
  2. Coach – learning about our true identity and mission.
  3. Challenge – a change in thinking and behavior, often requiring sacrifice.
  4. Champion – receiving authority and grace to carry out the mission.
Jesus prepares the disciples to be champions. Threats do not deter them. They are firmly grounded in Christ and ready to carry out God’s mission. I have often found myself stepping back when it matters, thinking I lack theological knowledge or authority. Jesus invites us to step forward, promising that he provides all we need. We see this in Daniel, who rejected wealth and comfort to fulfill God’s purpose. Where are we in our discipleship journey? Have we lingered in the catalyst stage, focusing only on experiencing miracles? Are we ready to accept his challenge and grow in faith?
PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for calling us to be your disciples. Help us to progress on our journey. Amen.
