Hannah’s story is one of deep faith and surrender. After years of longing and prayer, she receives the gift of her son, Samuel. Yet, instead of clinging to him, she offers him back to God. Her act of trust shows that true love is not possession but dedication. Everything we have is ultimately from God, and when we return it to him, it is multiplied in grace and blessing. In the Gospel reading, Mary’s Magnificat echoes Hannah’s song of praise. Mary rejoices that God looks with favor on the lowly and fills the hungry with good things. Her joy is rooted in the realization that God’s mercy transforms the humble into instruments of his will. Faith flourishes when we let go of control and allow God to work through us. Their gratitude and trust remind us that every answered prayer is meant to glorify God, not ourselves. May our hearts echo Mary’s song and Hannah’s offering, giving thanks for God’s faithfulness in every season.
Abba Father, make my heart humble and grateful for your mercy. Amen.
