Facing our Struggles
  • Genesis 32: 23-33
  • Psalm 17: 1-3, 6-8, 15
  • Matthew 9: 32-38

Jacob’s struggle was a profound encounter with God. Wrestling through the night, Jacob emerges with a new name and a limp. Our spiritual struggles, though agonizing, lead to blessings and transformation. How often do we find ourselves in such battles, yearning for relief? We are invited to seek refuge in God’s presence, trusting that he hears our cries and vindicates us. We are encouraged to remain steadfast in prayer, even amidst trials. In the Gospel reading, Jesus heals a mute demoniac, showing his compassion and authority over evil. The crowds are amazed, yet the Pharisees remain skeptical. Jesus continues his mission of teaching, healing, and proclaiming God’s Kingdom. He sees the harassed crowds and calls for more labourers, inviting us to join his mission with compassion and dedication. By the grace of the Holy Spirit, we can look beyond our problems and respond with patience and faith. The Holy Spirit helps us face our struggles and serve in his kingdom.

PRAYER: Abba Father, inspired by Jacob’s encounter and Jesus’ compassion, may we embrace our struggles with faith and serve you with dedication. Amen.
