Follow Me
  • 1 Samuel 9:1-4,17-19,10:1
  • Psalm 21:2-7
  • Mark 2:13-17

Saul was a chosen servant of God. Samuel was sent to seek him out and anoint him. God had a purpose for him. However, jealousy gripped him and he could not complete his task. In the Gospel we see how Jesus seeks Mathew who responds to Jesus immediately. When the light comes in, the darkness disperses and healing and restoration takes place. God had a purpose. Mathew was a great evangelist and eventually gave his life up for the sake of the gospel. Likewise, we too are called for a great purpose. We need to open ourselves to understand and respond to his calling. Our fallen nature draws us away from the light and life of God. We seek to fulfill our needs rather than the desires of the Lord. But Jesus comes seeking us, inspite of our shortcomings. That is why Jesus told the Pharisees, “I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners” (Luke 5:32). “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will enter his house” (Rev 3:20).

PRAYER: Abba Father, may your will be done in our lives. Amen.
