Freedom in Christ
  • Romans 4:20-25
  • Luke 1: 69-73, 75
  • Luke 12:13-21

Jesus who was without sin sacrificed himself by taking our place on the cross. In the First reading, we are reminded that Jesus paid for our sinful nature in full when he acted according to the will of God. He willingly carried our pain, regrets and sinful natures and nailed them to the cross. As a result, God raised him up from death. In him we have redemption and victory. The Psalmist is sending a clear message: God has fulfilled his promise and set us free from captivity. Therefore we are to worship and praise God as we have been delivered from the clutches of our enemies. In the Gospel reading, we see that God looks at our hearts and focuses on how we lead our lives. God does not judge us the way the world does. So we need to have faith and trust in his word. May he give us the courage and grace to overcome our brokenness to be in communion with him, so we can experience the supernatural power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for setting us free. Amen.
