Today’s first reading is calling us to live as God intended, which is to love and be loved by God. Because we are created in his image, his love is within us and has the power to transform us. Knowing that God loves us is a blessing. We should not take any of the good things in life for granted or as being our right, as everything we have is a gift from God because of his love for us. If we love him with all our heart, soul and strength, we will have no hesitation in surrendering our life to him. When times are good, it is easy to forget the giver. We fail to see God’s hand in our success and thank ourselves instead. God is the source of our blessings, and we should honour him for his goodness. God’s love must live in our hearts before we can share it with others. When I was growing up, I did not know how much God loved me, as I was taught to fear him. Let us therefore be diligent in teaching our children about God’s love. Let us love God and love others.
PRAYER: Abba Father, let your love continue to transform me from within so that I can love my neighbour as myself.
