In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus speaks to his disciples about his suffering and death, yet they fail to understand. Despite hearing his words, the mystery of his mission is too much for them to grasp. Like the disciples, we, too, may struggle to understand God’s plan in our lives, especially when it involves pain or confusion. Jesus’ prediction of his suffering was incomprehensible to them, and at times, we find ourselves in similar moments of bewilderment, questioning why things unfold the way they do. God’s plan often may not align with our expectations. The disciples wanted a triumphant Messiah, not one who would suffer. We, too, may have our own expectations of how God should work in our lives. Yet, Jesus calls us to trust in the bigger picture, even when we do not fully understand. Like the disciples, we may not yet comprehend the depth of God’s plan, but we are invited to surrender in trust, knowing that his plan is greater than our understanding.
PRAYER: Abba Father, help us trust in your plan, even when we cannot see the way forward. May we find peace in surrendering to you. Amen.
