Samuel heard God’s voice and responded in humility. God was attracted to the innocent heart a child. Samuel was chosen to be a prophet while he was in his mother’s womb. When the appointed time came, God called him. The reading said that God was standing in front of Samuel. We too are chosen from our conception and appointed by God, to be prophets, kings and priests through our Baptism. Do we hear the voice of God? Even if we hear, are we ready to get up from our comfort zone and run to him and say ‘here am I Lord’? The Gospel mentioned that the Lord Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law and she attended to the visitors from the time she was healed. We are broken and shattered people and Christ Jesus comes to us to touch us and awaken our spirits for us to go forth and attend to other broken and shattered people. This is our purpose in life. If we have not set forth to live selflessly, let us make a conscious decision today.
PRAYER: Abba Father, guide me to do your will. Amen.
