The Solemnity of the Assumption celebrates Mary’s entrance, body and soul, into heavenly glory. In the book of Revelation, Mary is depicted as the woman clothed with the sun, crowned with stars, and laboring to bring forth life. This imagery calls to mind her pivotal role in salvation history as the Mother of Christ, the victor over sin and death. Mary’s assumption is a sign of hope for all who trust in the Lord. In the second reading, St. Paul declares that Christ’s resurrection is the “first fruits” of those who have fallen asleep. Mary, preserved from sin and filled with grace, follows her Son in his victory. God’s plan is to transform and glorify all who remain faithful. The Gospel reveals Mary’s humility and faith as she visits Elizabeth, singing her song of praise. Mary recognizes that her greatness lies in God’s action within her. May the Blessed Mother’s example inspire us to live with faith, humility, and hope, so we too may one day share in the glory of heaven.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may we, one day, behold you face to face. Amen.
