I have seen the Lord
  • Song of Songs 3:1-4
  • Psalm 63:2-6,8-9
  • John 20:1-2,11-18

St Mary Magdalene was the first to proclaim the resurrection of the Lord. Luke’s Gospel introduces her as the woman from whom seven demons were cast out. Her love and gratitude toward Jesus led her to encounter the Risen Lord in an amazing way. “When you look for me, you will find me. When you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me” (Jer 29:13-14). This was what Mary did at the tomb and the Lord did not disappoint her. “I have seen the Lord” was the message she took to the apostles. As followers of Jesus, we are entrusted with the same mission of witnessing to the Risen Lord. However, this becomes possible only if we have a thirst for God, like St Mary Magdalene did. Are we grateful for Jesus’ sacrificial love? If we take a moment to sit at his feet in prayer, even in the most hopeless situations of our life, he will reveal himself to us. We will hear his voice calling out our name reassuring us of his love so that we could bear witness saying “I have seen the Lord”.

PRAYER: Abba Father, open my heart to seek you and my eyes to see you. Amen.
