Live with Courage
  • 1 Maccabees 6:1-13
  • Psalm 9:2-4,6,16,19
  • Luke 20:27-40

Today, as we celebrate the Memorial of Saint Cecilia, we are reminded of the courage and faithfulness required to follow God completely. In the first reading, the Maccabees demonstrate steadfast obedience to God’s law, even in the face of external pressures and threats. Their faith is tested, yet their commitment remains unshaken. Like them, Saint Cecilia embraced her vocation with total dedication, remaining faithful to God above all earthly demands. In the Gospel reading, the Sadducees question Jesus about life after death, seeking to trap him in doubt. Jesus’ response reminds us that God’s life transcends human understanding, and eternal life is a gift for those who remain faithful. St. Cecilia trusted in God’s promise, even when faced with persecution and martyrdom. Her life encourages us to remain steadfast in our faith, to honor God in our daily choices, and to live with courage when our convictions are challenged.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may we place you above all else, seeking eternal life through holiness and obedience. Amen.
