Living as faithful servants of God
  • Romans 6:12-18
  • Psalm 124:1-8
  • Luke 12:39-48

St Paul urges believers not to let sin rule their bodies. Though once slaves to sin, we have been set free through obedience to the Gospel. This freedom is not about doing as we please but about being aligned with God’s will. When we offer ourselves to God, we find true purpose and transformation. Grace does not excuse sin—it empowers us to live differently. In the Gospel reading, Jesus speaks about watchfulness and responsibility. Like servants awaiting their master’s return, we are called to be vigilant and faithful, not complacent. The parable teaches that much is required of those who have been entrusted with much. God’s grace brings freedom, but also responsibility, to live wisely, to steward well, and to serve faithfully. Let us embrace the freedom we have been given, not to indulge in sin, but to live responsibly, obediently, and with integrity. We are freed not just from something (sin), but for something, faithful service to a gracious Master.

PRAYER: Abba Father, thank you for setting us free from sin and calling us to serve you. Amen.
