In the first reading we see how the Israelites arrive at Mount Sinai, where God prepares them for a profound revelation. Through thunder, lightning, and a dense cloud, God descends to meet his people, demonstrating his holiness and power. The Israelites are called to consecrate themselves, signifying the need for purity and preparation in encountering God. In the Gospel reading, Jesus explains why he speaks in parables. He reveals that understanding God’s truths requires a receptive heart. While some hear but fail to comprehend, others are blessed with spiritual insight because of their openness to God. Jesus quotes Isaiah, lamenting the hardness of hearts that refuse to see or hear God’s message. However, for those who seek, God’s revelation is a gift, bringing understanding and transformation. At Sinai, God reveals his majesty, and through Jesus, he unveils the mysteries of his kingdom. Let us approach God with reverence and humility, ready to listen and respond.
PRAYER: Abba Father, open our hearts to see and understand your truth. Amen.
