May God bless us in his mercy
  • Numbers 6:22-27
  • Psalm 67:2-3, 5-6, 8
  • Galatians 4:4-7
  • Luke 2:16-21

On this first day of the New Year 2026, the Church calls us to reflect on Mary’s unique role in God’s plan of salvation. With unwavering faith and obedience, Mary embraced God’s will and became the Mother of Jesus. Today’s Gospel highlights her faith and humility. After Christ’s birth, she welcomes the shepherds and attentively listens to them. She ponders these events in her heart, demonstrating her trust in God’s mysterious ways and her willingness to follow his will. Today’s readings also highlight God’s abundant blessings and his invitation to eternal life. Through Mary, Jesus came to redeem us and adopt us into God’s family. Her acceptance of this role teaches us to trust in God’s plans and to live as his children. Mary, as the God-bearer, was the channel through which Jesus entered the world. Similarly, we are called to be bearers of God’s love. Let us also continue to pray for world peace through Mary’s intercession.

PRAYER: Abba Father, deepen our trust in you, to embrace your blessings in our lives. Amen.
