Mission of Reconciliation
  • Genesis 44:18-21,23-29; 45:1-5
  • Psalm 105:16-21
  • Matthew 10:7-15

In the first reading, we see Judah stepping forward to plead for Benjamin’s release, offering himself in his brother’s place. This selfless act of intercession deeply moves Joseph, leading him to reveal his identity to his brothers. Joseph’s words, “Do not be distressed; it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you,” highlight God’s sovereign purpose in turning betrayal into a path of redemption. This moment of reconciliation shows the power of forgiveness. Today’s Gospel reading calls us to participate in God’s mission with urgency and humility. Jesus instructs his disciples to proclaim the nearness of God’s kingdom, offering healing and peace wherever they go. He emphasizes dependence on God, and freedom from material distractions. As followers of Christ, we are called to embody his love even in the face of rejection. Let us trust God’s plan, embrace forgiveness, and serve others with humility, as instruments of God’s grace and reconciliation.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help us to reconcile and to share your love. Amen.
