In today’s readings, we see powerful examples of unwavering faith and courage. St. Paul says that his mission was fraught with challenges, yet he remained faithful to his calling. His willingness to face persecution and possible death parallels the sacrifice of St. Charles Lwanga and his companions, who, like Paul, remained steadfast in their faith even in the face of suffering and martyrdom. In the Gospel reading, we see Jesus’ prayer for his disciples. Jesus prays for unity, strength, and perseverance, virtues that the Ugandan martyrs exemplified. Their witness reminds us of the call to be true to our faith, no matter the cost. St. Charles Lwanga and his companions showed extraordinary courage, defending their faith in a hostile environment. Their martyrdom invites us to reflect on our commitment to Christ. Are we prepared to defend our faith, even in difficult circumstances? May we strive to live with conviction, trusting that God’s grace will sustain us through every trial.
PRAYER: Abba Father, strengthen us to bear witness to the Gospel. Amen.
