Jesus’ offering of himself on the cross to ransom us from sin was the greatest sacrifice. Through faith and baptism, we can receive his life and become wit-nesses to God’s love and power. St. John says ‘all the books in the world would not be able to contain the mighty things Jesus did during his life on earth.’ Let us open our hearts to Jesus the author of our lives and perfector of our faith. Let us invite him to reign over our thoughts and actions so that he can write yet another book of testimony within us. St Paul was rejected by the Jews, and his life was threatened, yet it is to them that he offered the Gospel message first. In Rome too he first approached the Jews. He displayed undefeatable hope and unconquerable love and left behind a powerful testimony. Let us proclaim Jesus to others, by being who Christ meant us to be, that the witness of our lives would be like an open book before them, inviting them to receive the same grace that we and all the saints before us received.
