Christianity is a love relationship with a Person, namely Jesus. It is not just a set of rules and obligations. The same legalism and rigidity that crept into the early Church threatens us too. Religious practices may try to stand above the Beatitudes and the Law of Love. It is humanly impossible to be faithful to his love relationship, hence the Holy Spirit has been given to us to teach us all things and to remind us of everything the Lord has told us. It is through greater yielding to the Spirit, that we grow in our love relationship with Christ. We need the Holy Spirit to renew our mind, making our “wineskins” new, to hold the “new wine” of what the Lord has in store for us. We are called to see what no eye has seen, to hear what no ear has heard, to know what no mind has conceived, as God reveals to us by his Spirit. We walk through fire and flood, being assured of victory in Christ. We Christians are not just called to enter heaven after death, but also to bring heaven to earth.
PRAYER: Abba Father, give me the grace to remember that you are my lamp that never goes out. Amen.
