The Holy Spirit is the source of life
  • Acts 2:1-11
  • Psalm 104:1,24,29-31,34
  • Romans 8:8-17
  • John 20:19-23

Today we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost transformed the disciples and marked the beginning of the Church’s mission. In the first reading we see how the Spirit descended on the disciples, filling them with courage and enabling them to speak in many languages, reaching people from all nations. This event reminds us that the Spirit unites us in diversity and empowers us to share God’s love boldly. In the second reading, St Paul describes the Spirit as the source of life within us, transforming us from being “in the flesh” to being “in the Spirit.” The Spirit makes us God’s children and heirs, moving us beyond fear and into a relationship of deep intimacy with God as our Father. In the Gospel reading, Jesus promises the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who will be with us forever. The Spirit is God’s abiding presence within us, guiding and comforting us on our journey of faith. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live as Christ’s witnesses, spreading God’s love and peace.

PRAYER: Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts. Amen.
