The little way of love
  • Isaiah 66:10-14
  • Psalm 44:11-12,14-17
  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-13
  • Matthew 18:1-5,10

Let us reflect on the beauty of spiritual childhood and the power of love lived in simplicity. Isaiah paints a tender image of God’s comforting love, likening his care to a mother nursing and consoling her child. This deep, gentle love was seen in the life of St. Thérèse who trusted in God’s mercy—believing that in our littleness, God draws especially close. St. Paul reminds us that love is the highest virtue—patient, kind, and enduring. For Thérèse, love was everything. She wrote that her vocation was to be love in the heart of the Church. She practiced small acts of charity with great love, trusting that in doing so, she pleased God more than through grand gestures. In the Gospel reading Jesus tells us to become like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven. St. Thérèse embraced this “little way”—humility, trust, and childlike surrender to God’s will. She reminds us that holiness is not about greatness in the world’s eyes, but in becoming small, trusting, and loving.

PRAYER: Abba Father, teach us to walk the little way of St. Thérèse —with childlike humility, and love. Amen
