True Treasure
  • 2 Corinthians 11:18, 21-30
  • Psalm 34:2-7
  • Matthew 6:19-23

In the first reading, St Paul speaks of his hardships to highlight his dependence on God. He contrasts worldly boasting with the humility of enduring trials for Christ’s sake. His sufferings reveal a deeper truth: true treasure lies in serving God and relying on his grace. His perseverance shows that eternal value far outweighs earthly comfort or status. In the Gospel reading, Jesus warns against storing up earthly treasures, which are temporary and vulnerable to decay or theft. He urges us to invest in heavenly treasures that endure forever. Our heart’s focus reveals our true priorities, and where we place our trust determines the clarity of our spiritual vision. A heart fixed on God is filled with light, while attachment to earthly riches darkens our perspective and leads us astray. True wealth is found in a life surrendered to Christ. Earthly trials, like St. Paul’s, may challenge us, but they refine our faith and align our focus on God’s kingdom. Let us invest our time, and energy in what truly matters.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help me to treasure eternal riches and to walk in your light. Amen.
