Trust and Humility
  • 2 Corinthians 12:1-10
  • Psalm 34:8-13
  • Matthew 6:24-34

In his letter, St Paul speaks of his “thorn in the flesh,” a humbling reminder of his dependence on God’s grace. God’s response, “My grace is sufficient for you,” reveals the paradox of Christian strength: in admitting our frailty, we open ourselves to God’s power. Today we honor St Aloysius Gonzaga who embraced humility, dedicating his life to serving the sick, and the poor despite his delicate health. The Gospel reading invites us to trust in God rather than be consumed by worry or divided loyalties. We cannot serve both God and wealth. St Aloysius lived this trust, renouncing his aristocratic inheritance to pursue a life of simplicity and service. His faith in God’s providence freed him to love without hesitation and focus on eternal riches. Holiness is found in trusting God’s plan, surrendering our strengths and weaknesses to his will, and prioritizing his kingdom above all. May his example inspire us to live humbly, trust fully, and serve generously.

PRAYER: Abba Father, teach me humility, trust, and wholehearted devotion to you. Amen.
