Trust in God’s Deliverance
  • Exodus 14:5-18
  • Exodus 15:1-6
  • Matthew 12:38-42

The Israelites faced the terrifying pursuit of Pharaoh’s army as they stood before the Red Sea. Overwhelmed by fear, they questioned Moses, doubting God’s plan. Yet, Moses assured them: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” God commanded Moses to stretch out his staff, parting the sea and paving the way for their miraculous deliverance. This reading shows- God’s power and calls us to trust him, even in moments of crisis. In the Gospel reading, Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for demanding a sign, pointing to the “sign of Jonah” as the only one they will receive. Just as Jonah’s deliverance from the fish foreshadowed repentance and salvation, Jesus refers to his death and resurrection as the ultimate sign. Unlike the Ninevites who repented, the Pharisees remain blind to God’s work, clinging to skepticism rather than faith. God’s power transcends human understanding. In times of doubt, we are called to trust in his provision and respond in faith rather than fear.

PRAYER: Abba Father, strengthen our faith and guide us through the challenges of life. Amen.
