We are God’s people
  • Exodus 17:8-16
  • Psalm 95:1-9
  • Acts 16:25-33
  • John 2:1-12

Today we celebrate the solemnity of the patroness of our country. In the first reading, we see God’s faithful assistance in the battle against Amalek. As long as Moses holds up his hands, Israel prevails: a powerful image of intercession and dependence on God. Prayer, perseverance, and reliance on divine strength lead to victory and deliverance. In the second reading, Paul and Silas model faith and trust in God even in dire circumstances. Imprisoned and beaten, they pray and sing hymns, and God intervenes with dramatic power, freeing them and leading the jailer and his family to salvation. Their faith demonstrates that God’s grace works through steadfast prayer and witness, often in unexpected ways. In the Gospel, at the wedding at Cana, Mary’s intercession opens the way for Jesus to reveal his glory. Mary guides us to her Son, who transforms ordinary life into extraordinary grace. May Our Lady of Lanka continue to intercede for us, pointing always to Christ.

PRAYER: Abba Father, guide the destinies of our nation. Amen.
