Blessed be the Lord, my Rock!
  • 1 Samuel 17:32-33,37,40-51
  • Psalm 144:1-2,9-10
  • Mark 3:1-6

In the First Reading, David overcomes Goliath not because of his strength but because he trusts in God. His unwavering faith sees the victory even before the battle has begun. When we walk into fearful situations armed with God’s peace and protection, we would know the peace that surpasses all understanding. Instead of trembling with fear, we will be ready for battle. David was feeling that empowerment. The unarmed hand which grasps God’s hand would never tremble. The person who can say ‘I come in the name of the Lord of hosts,’ has no need to be afraid of an army of Goliaths. Some of us maybe experiencing a health crisis, a relationship issue or financial hardship. The situation may seem like a giant that cannot be defeated. No matter the odds, let us go in the strength and might of the Lord, for the battle belongs to him. We should prepare for our battles by seeking God. His word will empower us to face the enemy. Our victory rests with the Lord.

PRAYER: Abba Father, you are my rock and my shield. You are my protector who fights all my battles. Amen.
