Today’s readings invite us to approach God with open hearts, trusting that, regardless of our failures, God will welcome us back with love. The readings not only reassure us of God’s readiness to forgive but also encourage us to live lives marked by forgiveness and generosity toward others. In the first reading, we see how God’s people turned away from his commandments, yet found hope through sincere repentance. Even while in exile, they held on to the belief that God’s mercy was greater than their shame or past mistakes. This powerful example reminds us that, no matter how far we may stray from God, we are never beyond his reach. The Gospel further deepens this message. Jesus warns against judging or condemning others, calling us instead to cultivate understanding and forgiveness. By choosing to forgive others, we not only grow in our faith but also become visible signs of God’s mercy. Let us trust in God’s forgiveness and extend his mercy to those around us.
Abba Father, do not deal with us according to our sins. Amen.
