Our stronghold is the God of Jacob
  • Ezekiel 47:1-9, 12
  • Psalm 46:2-3,5-6,8-9
  • John 5:1-16

The readings invite us to place our trust in God’s ability to restore what has been broken within us and to bring new life even to areas that seem hopeless or lifeless. In the first reading, we encounter a vision of how God brings life and renewal to every part of our lives, reminding us that nothing is beyond his healing power. Just as water refreshes the earth and revives what is dry, his grace strengthens our hearts, helps us to grow in faith, and brings vitality to every aspect of our lives. The Gospel offers a striking example: a man who had no one to help him, but whom Jesus saw and restored with compassion and care. This healing was not only physical but also a profound sign of God’s mercy reaching into the most isolated and forgotten parts of the man’s life, offering him hope and renewal. During this season of Lent, let us ask God for this cleansing and renewal through prayer and the sacraments, trusting in his transforming grace.

Abba Father, I believe that you are restoring my brokenness and bringing new life as I trust in you. Amen.
