Jeremiah reminds us that faithfulness to God does not protect us from being misunderstood or hurt. Jeremiah served, prayed, and spoke truth, yet faced opposition. His response challenges us to bring our pain before God instead of trying to defend ourselves. In the Psalm, I see the position of Jeremiah lived out: trust. Even in distress and fear, the psalmist chooses to place his life in God’s hands. This passage reminds us that trust is not the absence of struggle, but the decision to rely on God when we feel overwhelmed or alone. That trust is fully revealed in the Gospel as Jesus walks toward the cross. Knowing the suffering ahead, he chooses humility and service over recognition or power. Jesus shows us that God’s purpose is fulfilled through surrender, not resistance. Let us trust God when obedience is costly, bring our pain to him, and follow Christ’s example: serving faithfully and believing that God is at work even through our greatest sufferings.

Abba Father, teach me to surrender when hopelessness surrounds me. Amen.
