Remember the marvels the Lord has done
  • Genesis 37:3-4, 12-13, 17-28
  • Psalm 105:16-21
  • Matthew 21:33-43, 45-46

Jacob’s love for Joseph set him apart, and it became a source of resentment. Joseph’s brothers allow envy to grow until their hearts are hardened to the point of rejection. The story invites us to reflect on our hearts, where jealousy may be taking root, and how God can still bring purpose and redemption even from situations marked by rejection and hurt. We are called to guard our hearts against jealousy and to trust that God can bring good even from moments of rejection and injustice. In the Gospel, Jesus reveals how God’s gift can be rejected when hearts become hardened by pride and self-interest. The tenants forget they are stewards, not owners, and their refusal to listen leads to violence and loss. Do we respond to God’s word with openness and humility, or with resistance? How do we live as faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to our care? Let us have open and faithful hearts, with a deep awareness that we are caretakers of God’s gifts, not owners.

Abba Father, I pray for the grace to be a faithful steward of what you have entrusted to my care. Amen.
