A promise of hope
  • Isaiah 65:17-21
  • Psalm 30:2,4-6,11-13
  • John 4:43-54

A royal official comes to Jesus with a heart full of fear, helplessness, and love for his dying son. Jesus offers a simple word: “Your son will live.” No touch. No visible sign. Just a promise. And the man believes. He walks away holding onto Jesus’ word. How often are we like that official, asking God to come quickly, to fix things immediately, to show us proof before we believe? We are invited to grow beyond that kind of faith and hold on to God’s Word in faith despite how impossible our circumstances may seem. Isaiah’s vision of a new creation reminds us that God is always at work, bringing life out of sorrow, joy out of pain, and hope where despair once reigned. Sometimes that new creation begins quietly: in a decision to trust and keep walking, to believe God is present even when we cannot feel him. As we continue this Lenten journey, may we bring our deepest worries to Jesus, allowing him to speak over us and to experience his never-failing goodness in our lives.

Abba Father, may we listen to your word with faith and trust. Amen.
