Our calling in Life
  • Isaiah 49:1-6
  • Psalm 139:1-3, 13-15
  • Acts 13: 22-26
  • Luke 1:57-66, 80

How can we know the calling and purpose of our life? Parents have dreams for their children even before they are born. “Many are the plans of the human heart, but it is the decision of the Lord that endures” (Prov 19:21). The ultimate calling does not begin after we have completed a certain age, a certain season or an educational degree. ‘God’s eyes saw me unformed; in his book all are written down; my days were shaped, before one came to be’ (cf. Ps 139:16). At some point in our lives, we may struggle to know the purpose of our life. It might feel unlikely that God will show up in our impossible situation: a diagnosis, infertility, broken relationships, anxiety, financial struggles or grief. And yet, nothing is impossible for God. St. John the Baptist was called and chosen for a specific role – to prepare the way. We too have been chosen for a mission. Let us turn to God and be guided and led to that calling, drawing others to the ultimate Truth.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may my spirit be attentive to your voice. May I not be distracted by other voices. Amen.
