“I will put my spirit in you that you may live”
  • Ezekiel 37:12-14
  • Psalm 130:1-8
  • Romans 8:8-11
  • John 11:1-45

Today’s readings remind us of God’s unwavering promise to bring new life and demonstrate his authority over death. In Ezekiel, God assures his people that he will raise them from their graves and grant them new life, revealing his commitment to restoration and hope. This prophetic promise finds its fulfillment in Jesus, who raises Lazarus from the grave. Through this miracle, Jesus not only displays his power over death but also points ahead to his own resurrection. The second reading reinforces this message by assuring us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead will also give life to our mortal bodies. As we witness the tears of Jesus in the Gospel, we are reminded that he deeply understands human sorrow. These readings invite us to prepare our hearts, encouraging us to remember that love and life are stronger than death. Death does not have the final word. God’s promise of resurrection offers hope for believers.

Abba Father, give us courage in times of sorrow and hope in the face of death. Amen.
