When the Israelites complained and grew restless, poisonous snakes brought suffering among them. God provided a striking solution: a bronze serpent lifted high, anyone who looked in faith was healed. God’s ways often surprise us, and healing comes through trust and obedience, even when the remedy seems unexpected or humbling. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks of his own destiny: lifted up on the cross, he will draw all people to himself. Just as the Israelites were saved by looking at the bronze serpent, we are saved by turning to Christ in faith. This calls us to daily habits of faith: noticing God’s presence, trusting his guidance in difficult situations, and turning to prayer when life feels threatening or uncertain. When we face challenges, we can remind ourselves to “look to Christ,” seek his wisdom, and allow his love to guide our actions. Trusting God transforms our struggles into hope and opens the way to life in abundance.
We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you. Because, by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world. Amen.
