Today, the Church celebrates the moment when God’s plan of salvation begins to take flesh in Mary’s “yes.” In Isaiah, we hear a promise of hope: a young woman will bear a child, Emmanuel, God with us. This prophecy reminds us that God acts in ways beyond human expectation and that his plans often unfold in hidden, surprising ways. The second reading reminds us that Christ came not to offer repeated sacrifices, but to fulfill God’s will once and for all, bringing us redemption through obedience and love. Jesus’ entire life models surrender to the Father, showing that true faith is lived through trust and action. In the Gospel, Mary models perfect discipleship: she listens, discerns, and consents with courage, despite uncertainty and fear. Let us examine if we say “yes” to God in our lives: in acts of service, forgiveness, or sharing love. Let us be attentive in prayer, and open to God’s guidance. May our “yes” become a channel of God’s grace into the world.
Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Amen.
