In him we live and move and have our being
  • Acts 17:15, 22-18:1
  • Psalm 148:1-2,11-14
  • John 16:12-15

Paul’s experience in Athens and Corinth mirrors many aspects of our own faith journey. Our “Athens” also has many idols: status, money, and technology. Like Paul, we may feel disturbed by what distances people from God. Do we react with criticism, or do we engage with wisdom? We are called to witness thoughtfully as children of God. Paul did not begin with condemnation. He began with their altar to an “Unknown God” and met the people where they were. In the same way, we must gently lead others toward the truth from where they are. When people do not respond, when prayers feel unanswered, and when loved ones drift away, we need to persevere with courage, patience, and resilience. In the Gospel, Jesus reminds his disciples that they are not ready to understand everything yet. God reveals truth gradually, according to our capacity. This teaches us to trust in God’s timing. When we do not understand his plans, let us rely on the Spirit to guide us step by step into the truth.

PRAYER: Abba Father, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Amen.
