Do everything in the name of Jesus
  • Colossians 3:14-15, 17, 23-24
  • Psalm 90:2-4,12-14
  • Matthew 13:54-58

Today’s readings invite us to rediscover the sacredness of ordinary work and relationships. Love, as the bond of perfection, is not meant to remain an idea but to shape the way we speak, act, and even labor in hidden places. The call to work “from the heart” reminds us that our daily efforts, no matter how unnoticed, can become offerings when done for the Lord rather than for human approval. Yet the Gospel also reveals how familiarity can dull faith. The people who knew Jesus best struggled to recognize him. In the same way, we can overlook God’s presence in the routine, the ordinary, and the people closest to us. Grace often comes quietly, disguised in the everyday. Today, choose one routine task: work, a household chore, or even a conversation, and offer it to God with love, without seeking human recognition. Pause briefly and say, “Lord, this is for you.” In doing so, we train our hearts to see beyond the ordinary and allow Christ to be at work within us.

PRAYER: Abba Father, give success to the work of our hands. Amen.
