Transformation from grief to hope
  • Acts 2:14, 22-33
  • Psalm 16:1-2,5,7-11
  • Matthew 28:8-15

In today’s Gospel, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary left the tomb with both fear and joy, and they ran to tell the disciples. This gives us a sense of transformation from grief to hope, revealing how God turns despair into mission and sorrow into courageous proclamation, strengthening faith and inspiring trust in God’s unfolding plan, especially during moments of uncertainty, suffering, and personal loss. A true encounter with the Risen Christ awakens awe, joy, and reverent fear, stirring believers to proclaim the Good News with urgency. The resurrection changes everything, brings profound peace, and calls us to share that hope. This hope allows Jesus to roll away the boulders of fear and doubt in our lives. In Matthew 28:9 it says: “Behold, Jesus met them on their way, with greetings.” Such hope. Jesus will meet us too on our way, wherever that might take us. He will guide us, as we face times of grief and trials. Let us pray that we would have an encounter with the Risen Lord.

Abba Father, we ask for the grace to hope, knowing that you meet us right where we are. Amen.
