Empowered to evangelize
  • Acts 4:13-21
  • Psalm 118:1,14-21
  • Mark 16:9-15

Made capable by obeying God through the power of the Spirit, the disciples go forth with divine authority to bear fruit. Their going forth brings great joy to God. “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and prove to be my disciples” (Jn 15:8). Our commitment to Christ must be at the core of our proclamation of Gospel values in the life we lead. Evangelization is not only for a select few who can preach, but for all who are disciples of Christ. St John Paul II said that without inner conviction, our efforts to evangelize and proclaim the Gospel lack power and credibility. So do our lives, unless we are deeply connected to the source of all goodness and love. As a new creation, the love of Jesus and the seed of faith planted at baptism continue to grow, and we are sustained by God himself as we strive to live in communion with him: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. We become a spark of light, a centre of love, and a vivifying leaven in the world.

Abba Father, I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me. Amen.
