Where do we stand on Calvary? Are we standing beneath the Cross, watching in silence? Do we linger at a distance, unsure and afraid? Or have we, like many of the disciples, quietly withdrawn, overwhelmed? Isaiah presents the Suffering Servant: despised, rejected, and burdened with the sins of many. This suffering is not meaningless; it becomes the path through which healing and reconciliation are offered to the world. What appears as weakness is, in truth, God’s power at work. In the Passion narrative, Jesus walks toward the Cross freely and deliberately. Even in betrayal and condemnation, he remains faithful to love. The Cross reveals a God who does not abandon humanity but enters fully into pain, injustice, and death itself. Let us remain at the foot of the Cross, bringing our wounds, fears, and failures before the crucified Christ. Suffering united with his becomes redemptive. From the Cross flows the promise of new life for all who remain and believe.
Father, into your hands I commend my spirit. Amen.
