Transformation comes through encounter and surrender. In the Acts of the Apostles, Saul sets out with certainty and zeal, yet blinded on the road to Damascus he discovers that true sight comes only from Christ. Stripped of control and pride, Saul learns to listen, to wait, and to receive. Through Ananias, God restores his sight and calls him as a chosen instrument to proclaim Jesus. In the Gospel, Jesus declares that his flesh is true food and his blood true drink. These words disturb and challenge his listeners, yet Jesus does not soften the truth. Life with God is not lived at a distance; it requires intimacy, trust, and a willingness to be changed. The Desert Father Anthony reminds us, “Expect temptation to your last breath.” Conversion is not a single moment but a lifelong journey. Nourished by Christ in the Eucharist and open to God’s transforming grace, we are called, like Saul, to rise, be healed, and boldly proclaim the Lord we have encountered.
Abba Father, strengthen us to go out to all the world and tell the Good News. Amen.
