Today’s readings present three points of reflection: first, the saving power of the blood of Jesus. In the Old Testament, the blood of the lamb protected God’s people from death. We too can claim the power of the blood of Jesus over our lives, our families, and our households. Second, Jesus gives us himself in the Eucharist. As St. Paul recalls in the second reading, Jesus said, “This is my body…this is my blood”. This is not a symbol but a divine truth. The bread and wine are transubstantiated into the Body and Blood of Christ at every Holy Mass. If you are seeking healing or spiritual renewal in your walk with Christ, go to Mass as often as you can. Allow Jesus to heal you. Third, the Gospel reveals the power of servant leadership. Christ teaches us that true leadership is humility, compassion, and service. It is not just about ‘doing’, but also about ‘being’ all that he has called us to be: humble, compassionate, and merciful, especially to those we feel are undeserving.
Abba Father, help me follow Christ’s example and lead others to you through love and service. Amen.
