God can bring life and joy even out of suffering and disruption. In the early church, persecution scattered the disciples, yet this scattering becomes a moment of grace. Philip proclaims Christ in Samaria, and what begins in fear ends in joy. The Word of God cannot be chained; instead, it spreads, heals, and brings new life wherever it is received with faith. In the Gospel, Jesus reassures us with words full of promise: “I am the bread of life.” He comes to satisfy the deepest hunger of the human heart: the hunger for meaning, belonging, and eternal life. Jesus does not reject those who come to him; instead, he gathers, sustains, and promises resurrection on the last day. Our hope rests not in our strength, but in the faithfulness of God. As Pope Francis said, “The Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.” Nourished by Christ, we are sent into the world to carry hope, healing, and joy: even in the midst of life’s trials.
Abba Father, nourish us and empower us. Amen.
