In the first reading, Saint Peter exhorts the community to clothe themselves with humility and to remain steadfast in faith amid trials. Mark learned this lesson well as a companion of Peter, listening closely to his witness and faithfully recording the Lord Jesus’ words and deeds. In the Gospel, Jesus commissions his disciples to go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. This mission is not reserved for the strong or flawless, but for those willing to trust in the power of the risen Christ. Mark’s Gospel is brief, urgent, and direct: reflecting the conviction that the message of salvation cannot be delayed. Saint Mark reminds us that proclaiming Christ is not only about words, but about a life lived in faith and humility. Strengthened by God’s grace and guided by the Spirit, we too are sent to bear witness, confident that the Lord works with us and confirms the message through lives transformed by his love.
Abba Father, for ever I will sing of your goodness. Amen.
