Do we listen to the voice that leads us to life? In the first reading, Peter proclaims the risen Christ with courage, and the people are cut to the heart. Hearing the truth of the Gospel moves them to conversion, repentance, and new life. The voice of the Shepherd reaches them through the witness of the apostles. In the second reading, Saint Peter presents Jesus as the shepherd of our souls. Christ does not respond to suffering with retaliation, but with trust in the Father. By his wounds we are healed, and in his footsteps we learn how to live and love. In the Gospel, Jesus declares himself the gate for the sheep: the one who protects, guides, and leads us into abundant life. Those who belong to him recognise his voice and follow with confidence. On this Good Shepherd Sunday, we are invited to pray especially for vocations. May many hearts hear the Shepherd’s call and respond generously, so that God’s people may always be guided, and nourished.
Abba Father, may I dwell in your house, all the days of my life. Amen.
