We are called to do the will of the Father despite the hardships that come along the way. The first reading teaches us to serve God humbly and faithfully, even in times of uncertainty and struggle. St. Paul knew his path was leading to suffering, yet he was not afraid to fulfill his mission. He remained in deep communion with God because his faith and longing for eternal life were greater than his earthly desires and fears. Similarly, the Gospel shows how Jesus fulfilled his mission, and how graciously he asked his heavenly Father to forgive and protect his people despite his suffering. Eternal life is to know God and Jesus Christ, and to live in that relationship daily. The responsorial psalm reminds us that God cares for the humble and saves those who trust in him. So even when the path is difficult, we are never alone or abandoned. Let us ask ourselves, “Am I striving to complete the mission God has given me with love, courage, and faith each day?”
PRAYER: Abba Father, fill me with love, courage, and faith to complete the mission. Amen.
