Living out God’s Mission
  • Acts 20:28-38
  • Psalm 68:29-30,33-36
  • John 17:11-19

We all live in community: within families, workplaces, friendships, neighborhoods, prayer groups, and parish communities. Every day we meet people, and in these encounters, God calls us to live out the mission he entrusts to us. In our ordinary settings, he sends those who are weak, vulnerable, broken, and hurting. How well do we care for the weakest among us? The Lord entrusts us with tending his flock. We are called to be shepherds, caring for the people that Christ redeemed through his death. St. Paul reminds the Ephesian elders to guard their hearts and minds so they can faithfully guard the flock. This begins with examining our lives: confronting hidden sins, keeping prayer alive, and letting Scripture guide us daily. God’s mission is not easy. It may lead into isolation, hostility, or difficult conversations. Yet this is the way of Jesus, who enters darkness to bring light and life. He intercedes for us and sends us into the world with his power and unfailing love.

PRAYER: Abba Father, heal and restore me, so that I may take your light into the world. Amen.
