Get up, Jesus is calling you
  • 1 Peter 2:2-5, 9-12
  • Psalm 100:2-5
  • Mark 10:46-52

Today’s first reading calls us to grow in our relationship with Christ, like newborns craving pure spiritual nourishment. We are described as “living stones” being built into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, called to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God. As God’s chosen people, we are meant to live honorably among others, and reflect his love in every action. Our faith should be active, shaping how we interact with the world and stand as a witness to God’s mercy and holiness. In the Gospel, Bartimaeus’s bold cry, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me,” exemplifies persistent faith and trust in God’s power to transform life. His willingness to call out, despite the crowd and his own limitations, shows that faith requires courage. Jesus responds to Bartimaeus, granting him sight and new life, illustrating that God notices those who seek him earnestly. May we, too, hunger for spiritual growth, live as God’s holy people, and approach Christ with unwavering faith.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help us to see. Amen.
