In the first reading, St. Paul urges believers to remember Jesus as the foundation of faith. Despite suffering and imprisonment, Paul emphasizes that the word of God cannot be chained. Endurance in faith leads to sharing in Christ’s glory. He calls us to live responsibly with the truth: avoiding pointless arguments and instead presenting ourselves to God as workers who correctly handle the word of truth. In the Gospel, Jesus responds to a scribe’s question by quoting the Shema: to love God with all one’s heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself. This reading centers on the heart of God’s law: love that is wholehearted toward God and compassionate toward others. Let us combine faithful commitment with genuine love. Remembering Christ and holding firmly to the truth should shape how we live and treat others. Faith is about living in love. When devotion to God and love for neighbor guide our actions, we truly reflect the message of Christ.
